My family are from the States too, on the Valliere side. I have not found out a great deal, but do know that a house was left in Canada by a female Valliere, which she left for unwed mothers I think. There are a few Valliere's around but I don't think they are all from the same family. I must confess that I have not done as much as I would like, but I will! Did you know that there is a place called Château-la-Vallière? I think King Louis 14th gave this/title to his mistress, Louise de La Valliere. It is beside a river, the castle has all but disappeared & the house Louise lived in was an elderly people's home when I was last there about 7 or 8 years ago, but there was a large portrait of Louise hanging up. They had children & I think 2 were recognised as the Kings', from what I have read, Louise loved him but went in to a convent; I have seen an artists drawing of the King trying to woo her back! I set the company up only a couple of years ago & have just gone live with the brand new & much improved www.frocked.co.uk. This is our B2C Website, which is where we sell our own designs, & from now will also be introducing some other designers we know…hand-picked & made in the UK of course! Later in the year should see the launch of a brochure B2B Site wholly for Frocked de la Vallière; bit more eye-candy than catalogue pages.
